D.C. Tax Returns Need More Postage | ||

The Feb. 19 issue of the City Paper had a small article about completed and mailed DC tax forms that are getting returned to the taxpayer, due to the lack of enough postage. It costs at least 49 cents for postage to mail the tax return in the oversized envelope that D.C. government provides in their tax packet. There is a sentence about this on page 6 of the instructions but it is very easily overlooked. I happened to be working on my taxes that week, and I did not notice the instructions, since they provide the envelope and nothing but "place stamp here" is on it. The other option is to use your own envelope. § |
