YOUTH: Kids Can Register for Sports Leagues

Track & Field

The coed Track & Field season runs from April to mid-August. The fee is $40. The age range is 5 to 17, for any experience level. Practices are at the track facilities of Eastern High School. Track meets are on weekends in the D.C. metropolitan area. Contact Ben Bonham (388-5247) for more information.

Baseball / Softball

The Capitol Hill Baseball & Softball League's Developmental Baseball program, for ages 5-11, starts June 19! Register now. (The official deadline was Saturday, but applications are still being accepted.)

• T-ball is offered for 5-6 year olds (age as of July 31), at Providence Park, near 250 E St. SE.

• Coach pitch is offered for 7-8 year olds. Games are at Kingsman Field, D Street NE, between 13th and 14th, on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m.

• Machine pitch is offered for 9-11 year olds, at Tyler Elementary School, 800 10th St. SE.

The program requires a $50 registration fee (baseball shirt, trophy and cap included). Scholarship aid is available. Contact the commissioner, John Parker, at 546-7000 ext. 251. §
