- (Note: These two documents were obtained from Acting DC Attorney General Peter Nickles, after eight parents and teacher and neighbors sued Chancellor Rhee and Mayor Fenty, asking for budget information.) Most of the following documents were obtained as a result of a Freedom of Information Act request (80 kb Word file) submitted on December 6, 2007. (NOTE: The government is refusing to release any e-mails or notes that would show how the school closing decisions were really made.)

- The 9/12/07 Alvarez and Marsal analysis conducted for Mayor Fenty (164 kB Excel spreadsheet), and an e-mail from Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education indicating that the earlier $23.7 million estimate was based on closing 30 schools (7 more than the Mayor is actually proposing to close). The Alvarez & Marsal analysis calculated the fixed cost savings associated with closing Bowen, Bunker Hill, Draper, Eckington, Hine, Mamie D Lee, Moten, Park View, Patterson, Powell, Ron Brown, Sharpe Health, Shaw, Slowe, Stevens, West, and Young.
